Rick sez there sure are a lot of parts here.
Dean lends a hand.
The
vertical is finally assembled with Ray's help.
But Ray convinces Tom they can make a vertical helix that is better yet.
Or maybe simpler antennas are better than helix ones.
On the other hand, higher is better, lets erect a portable tower (LT, Steve,
Dean, Dave).
First lets assemble a Hex beam (Tom, Dave, Steve, Dean).
Tom sez "Thank God it's finally together!"
LT sez "I wonder if the rotator can handle that heavy weight."
It finally up there.
And look, we can dry our wet clothes too!
Ray tries to talk them into hearing 5 watts ssb.
Tom tries talking too, still 5 watts though.
Dean finally gets them with 5 watts, long live PSK-31! Meanwhile, Rick
tunes up on the crock pot.
We ran QRP
on 3 radios (2 FT-817s and a Ten-Tec Argonaut for GOTA), used 5 batteries, used solar charging when needed.
One of the smaller batteries being solar charged.
We had signs out on the roads inviting the public, info in the paper, Ray gave a
great radio interview about our Field Day, and we ran a small part 15 transmitter with info and
directions. We gave demo's to the public using APRS and SSTV.
Log book for quests, ham radio info, other misc. info for the public.
