FKARC monthly meetings are held on the first Wednesday of each month at 7:30PM. The meetings are alternated between the Monroe County Library Conference Room on Big Pine** (on even numbered months) and the Marathon Public Library Conference Room (on odd numbered months). Often there are demos on interesting topics. (** At Big Pine, enter from the rear of the Library; it's the shopping center unit with the handicap ramp.)
The
club was established in March, 1989, and is affiliated with
the American Radio Relay League (ARRL), a national organization, and is
an ARRL Special Service Club.
Our
Iota is NA-062 & Grid square
EL-94, and several members are active on 6M & 2M ssb,
HF and various digital modes.
The
club has averaged from 25 to 68 members each year with some of our
members living here all year and others spending only the winter
months. Club membership dues are $20 per
year from January through December with a reduced amount for the first
year when a member joins after mid-year. Dues are waived for licensed
amateur radio operators under the age of 18 years.
We sponsor or participate in many activities.
