I am a Senior+ at LeTourneau studying Aviation technology working on getting my A&P certificate.
In the off season I am employed at C&W Aero Services at the Essex Co.
Airport in Fairfield, NJ. Most of the time I install new and used avionics in a variety of airplanes. Thiw work really
hones my troubleshooting skills, as sometimes it is difficult to blend old and new systems together. I regularly install
Nav/Com radios, GPS units, intercoms, and autopilot systems. I find this work very challenging, varying, and fun. I also
help out with Annual/100hr/30hr inspections, oil changes, and other work that anyone needs immediate help with. There is
always plenty of work to go around.
I had been interested in getting my Ham radio license ever since 1994. I purchased a test prep book by Gordon West and studied
it every so often. I didnt know anything about electronics or radio theory at that time (still dont really, but I'm learning!)
and was afraid I was going to fail the test. My interest faded and changed to model airplanes, and i have a small fleet now.
In the early part of 2000 I was visiting radio shack and saw a new edition of the Gordon West book and picked up a copy. I
quickly learned about the license restructuring and the new simpler question pools. I decided I could do it and spent what was
about 3 days studying and highlighting the book before I took the test. I got a 32/35 and walked out with my ticket 20 minutes
later. I have yet to purchase any radios, but have been eyeing a few Ramsey kits for HF recievers. I plan on my first purchase
being a Yaesu or Icom mobile 2m or 2m/440 unit. Just have to wait for "ye ole tax refund". Maybe if I get enough back like I hope,
I will buy an HF rig from a swap meet or off of ebay and get ready for my general lic. I have been studying up on digital modes
since I already have a computer, and they say this is the fastest way to the exciting modes. I am primarily interested in PSK31, HELL,
SSTV, Packet, and RTTY.
Well I dont really have much to say on this page, I have another web site that tells a little more about me
