GateWayScs

What Is New

8/1/2009
Authored and up loaded version 0.0.1 of the GateWayScs user manual

Version 0.0.9 7/12/2009
GatewayScs is now installed using a windows installer.
I believe that the registry is still not effected. But to uninstall the add remove programs
has to be used. If you install to the c:\gatewayscs directory (which is the default directory
of the installer) then your old version of GatewayScs will be upgraded with no loss of data.

Version 0.0.8 6/21/2009
Found a bug that would cause GateWayScs to crash. The bug happens when
a station connects to GateWayScs with a call sign without an SSID.
The Bug is now fixed.
Made an improvement: Now the disconnection of the GateWayScs station and
the EcomScs station happens a lot faster. In the past I have had reports that this could take
up to 2 minuets.

Version 0.0.7 6/21/2009
So what happened to version 0.0.5 and version 0.0.6?
Versions 0.0.5 and 0.0.6 were beta versions that Jean-Guy VE9BUF was kind enough
to test out for me.

Version 0.0.7 now checks for errors when it tries to store an Internet E-Mail.
Now instead of the program terminating ungracefully it now displays an error message in the
upper window. Also a file is created (error.txt) in the new directory Error-Mail.

The errors were caused by some ISP's adding
double quotes and single quotes to the To: address of an incoming Internet E-Mail.
This is now fixed in version 0.0.7 The error routine was used to diagnose this problem.
The error routine was left in the code in case in the future any new errors crop up.

All of the unnecessary Internet E-Mail Headers are now removed. This makes the E-Mail a lot
smaller. Which is a good thing when the E-Mail is sent via 1200 baud RF.

Version 0.0.4 5/25/2009
Added support for AGWPE.
In fact I recommend using AGWPE even if you are using a TNC.
When sending attachments AGWPE adjusts the number of packets sent by the
condition of the connection. Good RF path and the attachment goes a lot faster.

Moved the Internet check box to the GatewayScs setup form.
Also added a AGWPE check box to the setup form.
GatewayScs now defaults to TNC and non Internet mode.
The state of these two check boxes is saved on shut down of GatewayScs.
Now the title of the Main form of GatewayScs includes the following
either Internet Mode On or Internet Mode Off depending on the state of the
Internet check box.

GatewayScs can now work at a remote location. If the PC reboots GatewayScs will
Start up with no problems. As long as you have the GatewayScs short cut in the Windows
Startup folder.
This change means that any changes made to the GatewayScs setup form or the
AGW setup form will only take effect on the next startup of GatewayScs.

Version 0.0.3 11/08/2008
Error that was found in EcomScs is now also fixed in GateWayScs.
If the user started GateWayScs with the TNC off or the cable disconnected
then GateWayScs would start but not display on the screen. GateWayScs would own
the serial port. The user would have no idea that GateWayScs is running. If the user
went to start up another packet program Windows would inform the user that
the serial port was not available. The only way out of this problem was to start
Task Manager and then kill GateWayScs.
This bug has been fixed. Now if the user starts up GateWayScs with the TNC off
or the TNC cable disconnected GateWayScs detects this and ends gracefully with an
error message.
Made a user asked for change.
Now when you get an error message on the setup form you have the option to close GateWayScs
or continue GateWayScs. If you continue GateWayScs you are back at the setup page so you
can fix what ever caused the error.
