EcomScs

What Is New

Version 0.3.2 12/24/2010
Made EcomScs work internationally as far as date and time go. (I think)
When EcomScs detects that the Culture code is not en-US it changes the culture code
to be en-US. Note this does not change your PC's culture code settings.
This only effects how EcomScs itself handles dates and times.

Version 0.3.1 09/21/2010
Found and fixed a bug in the WinLink code.
The programmers at WinLink chaged their keyboard interface.
I have now fixed the problem. WinLink should once again work.

Version 0.3.0 09/16/2010
As of Version 0.3.0 EcomScs now works with 32 and 64 Bit XP,Vista and Windows 7
If you are using version 0.2.9 then there is not any reason for you to
upgrade to version 0.3.0. The only changes to version 0.3.0 is that it works with
64 Bit systems. Note 0.3.0 also works with 32 bit systems. 0.3.0 also has a new
user interface for the Inbox,Outbox,Sent and Trash folders.
0.3.0 new interface looks more like an E-Mail client.

Version 0.2.9 09/05/2009
Version 0.2.9 Updates the Send Text file feature. When I added AGWPE to EcomScs
I forgot to add the AGWPE code to the Send Text File feature. So I have now added
the AGWPE code to this feature. What you do not know what the Send Text File Feature is.
Please read the updated EcomScs Manual version 0.0.3 to find out more. The Send Text FIle
Feature is well worth the down loading of the updated EcomScs manual.

Version 0.2.8 07/27/2009
While adding the Macro Form to the EcomScs user manual as usual I found a bug that
if a user doubled left clicked on a macro while unconnected while EcomScs is using AGWPE.
This is now fixed.

Added the instructions for the EcomScs Macro Form to the user manual. Made updates to the
EcomScs user manual to reflect the new features that are in EcomScs as of version 0.2.7

Version 0.2.7 07/12/2009
Many user requests were incorporated into version 0.2.7
They are as follows.
From the beginning of EcomScs all the non dialogue forms were sizable. Now the location
and size along with their window state is remembered between sessions of EcomScs.
When exiting out of EcomScs the user is presented with another choice . Are you sure that
you want to exit EcomScs?
When composing an E-Mail EcomScs now words wraps to the next line when the text gets
to the end of the form. Note if you want to grantee that what you type will be what the
recipient of the E-Mail sees then you should use the enter key at the end of each line.
The time interval of the beacon text is now user configurable when using AGWPE.
EcomScs installs using a real setup program made with window installer.
I believe that the registry is still not effected. But to uninstall the add remove programs
has to be used. If you install to the c:\ecomscs directory (which is the default directory
of the installer) then your old version of EcomScs will be upgraded with no loss of data.

Bug fixes:
The WinLink node software has changed. This change caused EcomScs to have an error
occur. The local WinLink node in my area had been down for a month or more.
When it came back on line is when I found this problem. It is now fixed.

Version 0.2.6 05/23/2009
Found a bug that would occur between EcomScs and GateWayScs while Ecomscs is
in AGWPE mode. The bug would cause EcomScs to crash. This is now fixed.
Found this bug while using EcomScs and GateWayScs at my clubs Field Day site.

Version 0.2.5 05/23/2009
Well the third time is the charm. I finally saw the forest before the trees.
The X1J4 node problem is put to bed. May it rest in peace.

Added a small update to the AGWPE connect dialog. Now the user can use the
enter key to accept the connect command. Also double left clicking on a list item
will now cause the connection to take place.

Version 0.2.4 05/17/2009
The X1J4 node fix did not work. The problem is now fixed.

Version 0.2.3 05/16/2009
I have had reports that on some if not all X1J4 Nodes do not display
a node prompt when first connected to. This behavior would cause EcomScs to
connect to the X1J4 node and then do nothing. This is because EcomScs would be
waiting for the node prompt that would never come.
Version 0.2.3 fixes this problem. EcomScs no longer waits for a node prompt.
As EcomScs connects to each node it immediately issues the next Connect command.

I have also found a bug where if the user went to the setup page and then to one of the paths
and at that point changed the type of connection then clicked on the cancel button what would
happen is EcomScs would crash. Version 0.2.3 fixes this problem.

I have added the following file to the ecomscsxxx.zip file MSYS.TXT
This is a working MSYS BBS file. If you tried to use EcomScs with a MSYS BBS in
the past and had a problem then please try this file out. Note the only change you
may have to make to the file is the BBS Prompt Field.

Version 0.2.2 05/10/2009
Found and fixed a bug in the WinLink code.
If the WinLInk node that you connected to was not able to make a CMS connection
then EcomScs would crash. This bug is now fixed in version 0.2.2
Now if the WinLink node that you connect is not able to make a CMS connection
EcomScs will issue the B commmand and then disconnect from the WinLink node.

Version 0.2.1 04/12/2009
Fixed the setup program issues.
If you have a running copy of EcomScs then no need to down load and install
EcomScs version 0.2.1
The only change is to the install program and the main EcomScs exe so that
both the install program and the Main EcomScs program would have no trouble
Running on the users PC.
So if you have a working installation of EcomScs then no need to install
verison 0.2.1

03/29/2009
Added the beginings of a user Manual.
You can down load this user manual from a Hyper link located at the bottom
EcomScs Page

Version 0.2.0 01/23/2009
Major release of EcomScs.
This release has one change and one new feature.
The Setup form has been completely redone. (This is the change)
Lynn KB3FN informed me that if you wanted to connect through more than one
node EcomScs would stop at the first one. Now Ecomscs can connect through up to five nodes.
In order to make EcomScs flexible I have changed the setup form so that if each node
you go through has a different prompt or a different disconnect command you can enter
that information for each node you go through, In fact even if the node prompts and
the node disconnect commands are the same for each node you would enter the same
node prompt and disconnect command for each node. To make this process easier for the
user EcomScs setup form is now interactive.
Also new to the setup form is the Cancel button. So now new users can cancel out of
the setup form with out filling it in. After clicking on the Cancel button the EcomScs
main form will now display. Note until the user completely fills in the setup form
EcomScs will not allow the user to do much more than display the main form.

EcomScs now supports the AGWPE packet engine. (This Is The Feature)
Thank you Bill W5ZIO for programming AgwpPort . AgwpePort makes the programming
of the AGWPE packet engine a 100 times easier.
With the addition of AGWPE EcomScs now has a two new menu items.
The AGW Commands menu item.
Here is where you will find the Connect ,Disconnect and MH Heard List AGW commands.
The Ports menu item
Here is where you will find the TNC and AGW menu items.
To go direct to a TNC click on the TNC menu item
To go through AGWPE click on the AGW menu item.
When you click on the AGW menu item a new text box opens at the top of the EcomScs
main form. This text box is a monitor window that shows all the packets on the frequency.
These monitored packets are displayed in this new text box even when you are connected
to another station. This is a bonus feature of the integration of AGW and EcomScs.
I find it interesting to see all the ax25 frames go by.

Version 0.1.9 12/04/2008
In version 0.1.8 being a major release I broke the WinLink and the GateWaySCS feature.
The problem is now fixed in version 0.1.9
Sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused.

Version 0.1.8 11/30/2008
Major release of EcomScs.
EcomScs can now use any full service BBS to transport its E-Mails.
This is accomplished by the user either creating his or her own BBS Command file
or by down loading and installing one of the BBS command files that will be available on
this Web Site.

Very important. If this is a first install of EcomScs then start up EcomScs.
Fill in all the setup information on the setup form. Then close EcomScs. By doing this
EcomScs has now created the C:\EcomScs\bbs directory.
If not a new install of EcomScs then simply start up version 0.1.8 and then close EcomScs
This as in the first install has created the C:\EcomScs\bbs directory
Again start up EcomScs. Then click on the BBS Setup Menu Item.
On the Define Edit BBS Form that is displayed please click on the help button.

Version 0.1.7 11/04/2008
Lynn KB3FN found a bug in EcomScs.
Thank you Lynn for bring the following bug to my attention.
If the user started EcomScs with the TNC off or the cable disconnected
then EcomScs would start but not display on the screen. EcomScs would own
the serial port. The user would have no idea that EcomScs is running. If the user
went to start up another packet program Windows would inform the user that
the serial port was not available. The only way out of this problem was to start
Task Manager and then kill EcomScs.
This bug has been fixed. Now if the user starts up EcomScs with the TNC off
or the TNC cable disconnected EcomScs detects this and ends gracefully with an
error message.

Version 0.1.6 11/02/2008
Added the ability to send Ctrl T, Ctrl X ,Ctrl Y and Ctrl Z
The UpArrow key is now the TNC last command recall key.
The DownArrow key is now the TNC command line blank key.
When the TNC command text box has the focus and the UpArrow key is pressed
the last command sent to the TNC is recalled and displayed in the command text box.
This way if you make a mistake in a command after pressing the return key you can recall
the command then fix the mistake then resend the command.
The DownArrow key when pressed while the TNC command text box has the focus then
the TNC command text box is cleared.
Made a user asked for change.
Now when you get an error message on the setup form you have the option to close EcomScs
or continue EcomScs. If you continue EcomScs you are back at the setup page so you can fix
what ever caused the error.

Version 0.1.5 10/26/2008
Added the ability for users to reduce the size of there image files.
By image I mean JPG,GIF,TIFF and BMP files.
This new feature is invoked by clicking on the new Image menu item.
The user selects an image file to load. Once loaded the image form is displayed.
The image form consists of the image to be reduced. A Half Size button, a Save button and the
file size in KB.
When the half size button is pressed the image displayed on the form is reduced by half and the
file size in KB display is updated to show the new file size.
Note the original file is not effected by the above.
The save button allows you to save the changed file to a different directory than the original file.
This way the user's original file will not be changed.
Once you have the image file reduced to a size that makes sense to send at 1200 baud you then
can send the reduced image file as an attachment to an E-mail message.

Version 0.1.4 10/19/2008
Added the ability for users to create their own forms.
This form feature is a What You See Is What You Get.
The user creates forms by draging and droping text boxes on a virtual representation
of their 8.5 by 11 sheet of paper. Portrait and Landscape supported.

Added the ability to print out the diffrent help files included in EcomScs.
The new help print button is located on the Help viewing form.
