Personal: Hello, my name is Jimmy and I live in Quincy Massachusetts. I have a technician level FCC amateur license. I spend most of my amateur radio time around on 2m and 70cm participating in nets around my area.

Equipment: My current equipment is as follows: Yaesu FT-530 dual band (2m/70cm) hand held. A radio shack HTX202 2m handheld and a Yaesu FT-897D Multi-band portable/base/mobile rig. Regarding antennas I only have a mobile Maldol HMC-6 6-band mobile antenna.

Arrl-The web site of the Amateur radio relay league. FCC-The web site for the Federal Communications Commission. Simon Twigger- His web-site provides practice tests for the different Amateur and commercial operator licenses. New England Repeater Directory-This is a site containing a list of the repeaters available in the New England area. They can be sorted by frequency, city or state, very cool! MODS_DK- On this site I found the instructions to modify my FT-897 in order to used for MARS. They have information on many other rigs, check it out. Eham- Nice site with lots of information for us hams. Includes forums and product reviews. Most importantly, there are a lot of ELMERS eager to help!

Minute Man Repeater Association- Nice local group maintaining a good number of repeaters in the area and very good repeaters too. Boston Amateur Radio Club- BARC, local club in Boston, they maintain some of the best repeaters in the area and are one of the most active groups around. Central Mass Amateur Radio Association- Another local group. Very active in the western part. RIGPIX- Nice site that has tons of pictures of popular rigs. Can also provide electronic copies of manuals and schematics. |
