Welcome
KB1HNZ
I’ve been active in amateur
radio since 2001. In 2003, I upgraded to General Class, and to Extra
Class in the Spring of 2004. I have several areas of interest in the
hobby, including Dx’ing on 2 meters, 6 meters, and most HF bands. I
also enjoy FM satellites, 6 meter AM, contesting, and slow-scan
television. Outside of amateur radio, my interests include auto racing,
which I’ve participated in as a driver and crew member since 1993,
surfing, and classic car restoration. I’m currently studying at the
University of Southern Maine. I work in the automotive field and in my
spare time, I write fiction for publication, and news stories
for the local newspaper, The
Gorham Times.
When I'm
in the shack, I usually monitor the 146.655 W1NH (-100Hz) repeater,
located on the summit of Mt. Washington, NH, and when mobile I monitor
147.540 SIMPLEX.
If
you're in Southern Maine or Seacoast New Hampshire, check into the
“Southern Maine 6 meter AM/PM” net (when active), on 50.400 AM on
Thursdays, beginning at 8PM local time.
In the
summer of 2010, I became a founding member of the Wireless Society of
Southern Maine, which meets in the summer at Wassamki Springs
Camprground, and Fall and Winter at the Gorham Recreation Department,
in Gorham, Maine.
