The Story County Amateur Radio Emergency Service (ARES) is an organization of amateur radio operators within Story County who have voluntarily registered their stations for public service in the event of an emergency or disaster. The group was established to provide organizational support, provide training opportunities, and develop operational plans to better equip amateur radio operators within Story County to assist served agencies. Story County ARES includes members of the Story County Amateur Radio Club and the Cyclone Amateur Radio Club of Iowa State University. Story County ARES is not a club, but rather an administrative organization and is affiliated with the American Radio Relay League (ARRL).

The purpose of this website is to provide general information about Story County ARES to local amateur radio operators and serve as an information and training resource for ARES members.

Membership in Story County ARES is open to any licensed amateur radio operator who is willing to voluntarily register their station and service for ARES duty. ARRL membership is not a requirement for membership in Story County ARES.
