March 1999 South Texas PIO Report Media Hits Martha Underwood (N2VRF) reports that Williamson County had a newspaper article in January on QSL party for our county's 150th anniversary special event. Also during March, Williamson County resident John Warren, NT5C, was on channel 36 regarding talking with Kosovo hams about what is going on. He did a great job of making the hobby interesting and enticing for the public. Media Traffic Roger Wines (W5WIA) created a press release to describe the Amateur Radio community's participation in the Starflight Medical Evac Helicopter landing zone training on February 27 in the Austin area. Roger created the press release and spread the word to the TV media while I forwarded the information to several newspapers in the area. No word yet if any media coverage resulted. Misc. You've gotten information from me concerning the ongoing effort to pass the Texas Tower Bill. Please consider showing up for the April 7 testimony on the bill and as always keep on the lookout for any press reporting on the bill, negarive or positive. Thanks to Martha Underwood (N2VRF), Ken Neal (K5KEN) and Morgan Palmer (KC5GPG) for checking in this month.
