Northern Electric FSK Exciter

Another fine addition to the RTTY collection, this Northern Electric type 104 model 4 FSK exciter is in nearly new condition. Intended for a 19 inch rack, the power supply is seen on top, and the larger exciter unit is seen on the bottom. Frequency range is 2.5 to 6.7 MHZ. Frequency shift is adjustable from 0 to 1000 hz. The slot in the center allows one to view a mercury thermometer, so you can see if the oven is doing it's thing.

Scrounged an 80 meter xyal, wired up the power suppy, and fired it up. Seems to be working fine! Shift calibration is even relatively close. If I can arrange a suitable PA, plans are to put it on the air this winter and try a little RTTY, the "old" way.
