Peter's Sailing Page
This year, we decided to take a different vacation. We chartered a 33 foot bareboat (a yacht you sail yourself) fromAustralian Bareboat Charters in Shute Harbour, Queensland, Australia. And here we are on "our" boat.

If you haven't ever done this before, it's a fun way to take a vacation. My prior sailing experience was on a Sunfish in the town pond, with occasional excursions on bigger boats owned by friends who would sometimes let me steer. We spent a week on this boat, and enjoyed every moment of it. Didn't put a scratch on the boat, either!
Here's a portion of AUS 252, the chart of the Whitsundays, with (most of) our track plotted in blue. I recorded our track on my Garmin 45 GPS, and superimposed it on the scanned chart using Fugawi.

It's a bit small, but you can see where I tacked to avoid a ship just to the southeast of the compass rose.
