What's new?
I've been learning how to make PDFs with Adobe
Acrobat.
Here are some useful articles pertaining to the Collins R-388/URR and 75A4 PTO end point calibration problem.
"New
Life for the Collins 51J Receiver VFO"
describes the problem of end point calibration and how to readjust the
PTO. (800kb)
"Making
Your Collins 75A4 Perform Like New"
contains a good description of the mechanics of the PTO assembly. (1MB)
Here's an interesting old U.S. Army Signal Corps
repair manual for the BC-1147 and BC-1147-A receivers,
technical manual TM11-4041.
(5.6MB)
This receiver was manufactured by Federal Telephone
and Radio Corp. and was part of the SCR-291-A and
SCR-502 radio direction finding sets. No, I haven't
got one! I am told that a lot of these wound up as
surplus in Europe after WWII but not very many
stayed behind in the U.S.
Here's the operator's manual for a relatively
newer piece of gear: the Kenwood
T-599A transmitter.
(3.2MB)
I also have the manual for the R-599A and post
it here eventually.
As time permits, I will try to scan and post manuals
and schematics of other interesting equipment.
Here's a photograph of the reproduction part:
The typeface has been carefully matched to the original lettering and is silkscreened in white and red like the original. I'm quite sure the same lettering is used on the 830/4, /7, and /9 models; probably others in the 830 series as well. Click this link to see close-up photos and check if the lettering is correct for your model. (approx. 120 kb of photos)
