Welcome to the K9LDW web page.
I've been a ham (radio amateur) since 1978. For any hobby to hold my interest this long it has to offer a few things - not only to me but others who participate in it. Ham radio has helped me in my career (as well as choosing a career), has helped me meet folks from around the world, and has provided a good arena for me to constructively "play" with electronics, sometimes for a profit.
What am I up to now?
Some satellite operation. is an excellent resource for information on amateur satellites.
I'm interested in but not yet active in microwave hamming. I am a member of the North Texas Microwave Society, where you'll find some great guys that really know their stuff when it comes to microwaves!
Who am I besides a ham?
For a living, I have been a Technical Solutions Manager for a major computer services company, a CIO, and an independenet consultant. I have guided planning for Server, data storage, networks, Telecomms, and related services for some of the largest companies in the world.
I occasionally do commercials (voiceovers). My wife and I sing and enjoy hot air ballooning.
