Fewer Errors With Non Iambic Paddle Society

Contest Announcement

We all know that Straight Key Nite was chosen to occur on New Year's eve so that the goal of error free sending with a straight key would be slightly more difficult if you have been imbibing the champagne, etc.

My sending with a straight key remains absolutely flawless while under the influence any night of the year. So there's really no contest. But my sending with an iambic keyer is laden with errors, under the influence, or not. Only by switching to a non-iambic mode am I able to send anything recognizable as Morse code. In other words, I hate iambic keyers but love the non-iambic mode.

So, in order to promote fellowship amongst like minded individuals, I hereby propose the formation of the "Fewer Errors With Non Iambic Paddle Society" also to be known as FEW NIPS.

Our contest will also run during the same time period as Straight Key Nite. Operators using a non iambic paddle may send CQ FEW NIPS, only after they've had a few nips. Contestants may report back to this blog the callsigns of any FEW NIPS contestants that had a perfect error free exchange anytime during the contest period or even the call of any operator who really sounds drunk. Anyone operating mobile during the contest will be disqualified. Remember, no cheating. You should have had a few nips prior to firing up your non iambic paddle.

Good Luck and Good Nipping!
