My name is Eric Smitt. I was born February 21, 1948 in Philadelphia, PA. I became interested in science and electronics when I was 10 and shortly passed the novice exam and received the callsign KN3YWJ I learned the love for contestingand DXing as a teenager in the Germantown Radio Club, K3YFD /K3MTK, where Don Spiller (W3LUW) was the trustee and elmer. I graduated Central High School in 1965 (Class 224). Central High School is one of the oldest high schools in the United States. I also was a member of the "807 Society"at Central High. I also was involved with the constrtuction of a Cyclotron at the High School, and helped start the Rocket Society.

My earliest picture related to amateur radio was taken in 1967, when I lived in Pensacola, FL. Here is a picture of me putting up a homebrew 20 meter quad that used "real" bamboo. I should know, I cut it down.....
