  Relay For Life of Vigo County  
April 17-18, 2004

  CAARLA, the Banks of the Wabash Chapter #204 of the QCWA,  

and the Wabash Valley Amateur Radio Association sponsored

2 teams in the 2004 Relay-For-Life in memory of CAARLA's

1st President, Natalie Andrews (K9CAT). 

 

Both teams maintained a presence on the track throughout the

Relay and also operated an HF station and 2 VHF stations to

introduce the public to amateur radio.

 

The two teams raised a combined total of nearly $1200 for the

American Cancer Society.

 

Kevin Berlen (K9HX), Jim Canarecci (WA9TGO),

and Jay Sotak (AB9CG) assist setting up the team area.

The K9CAT operating position consisting of a Kenwood TS-140S

on HF  and two 2-meter radios.  One 2m rig was used for

communicating  with team members on the track.  The other was

used for accessing  the WVARA repeater on 146.685 MHz.

Kay Brentlinger (KB9HYH), Debbie Shorter (KC9AOR),

Pat Cox (KB9TJW), and Steve Shorter (NT9T) relax in the tent

some 20-meter contacts.

track by studying for her General exam.
