Welcome to Brandon F. Stauber's QSL Web Site
Flying down to Sinaloa, Mexico on a Liga trip in a Cessna 182RG - 2004
I am a Technician Class HAM in Los Angeles, California and use my radio skills to provide service to several volunteer groups:
- Civil Air Patrol - Santa Monica Composite Squadron No. 51 - United States Air Force Auxiliary
While CAP has long been associated with search and rescue missions, its work also includes disaster relief and communications, as well as counterdrug and homeland security missions.
- Emergency Volunteer Air Corps
The Emergency Volunteer Air Corps promotes and coordinates effective and useful additional General Aviation volunteer participation in emergency relief efforts, especially following disasters.
- Liga International
LIGA is dedicated to improving the health and well-being of the people of Sinaloa Mexico by providing free health care and education
- I am also a pilot and therefore use the AM airbands regularly to communicate with Air Traffic Control (ATC) and other aircraft. I have a Vertex VXA-210 Handie Talkie as a backup for airband use.
I use a 5W Vertex VX-150 Handie Talkie for most of my communications needs. It is modified for use on the CAP/MARS frequencies (NTIA compliant). I also have a high gain Comet antenna on my house so I am able to reach distant repeaters and stations from inside. While mobile, I have a Comet whip antenna which is better than the rubber duckie the unit came with. I am considering a base unit and upgrading my license to a General Class.
