Throughout the world there are radio hobbyists who are captured by the allure of wireless communications. They are caught up in the thrill of contacting as many different radio operators in as many different lands as possible in a specified amount of time. This friendly competition in radio contesting formed the basis of a camaraderie of amateur radio enthusiasts in the Macomb County area. Today USECA still enjoys friendly competition with other clubs around the world during the annual domestic and international radio contests sponsored by the American Radio Relay League, CQ Magazine, and other organizations.
