
Amateur radio offers the opportunity to earn numerous achievement awards.
Whether you enjoy the speed and competition of a contest or the more leisurely
approach of operating at your own pace, there's an award out there somewhere that can be your goal.
To compete for a contest award, you take a look at the rules and then join in the fun.
When it's over, you send in an entry sheet and your contest log listing the contacts you've made.
The rules for many of the noncontest operating awards require that you provide proof
of claimed contacts. A common method is to submit for review, QSL cards you've received as confirmation.
For that reason, a lot of hams are compulsive mailbox watchers. I enjoy trying for both types of award ;
