Here is some information to use with Echolink. I have heard people say that they are not sure how to find and use node numbers to find people to chat with by using radio RF and not a computer. They just do alot of listening and wait for someone to connect here. I have made some random shortcuts that you do not have to know any node numbers at all. These two shortcuts will connect you RANDOMLY any where in the world and you will not know where you are connecting until the connect is made. Kind of like using HF and calling CQ and seeing if anyone anywhere comes back to you. If you connect and people are talking just wait for a break and throw out your call just like you would on a repeater or on HF. And if you connect and no one is heard just throw out your call and a CQ. Just remember just like our repeaters there is not always someone around to come back to you. Then just disconnect and use the random shortcut again and connect somewhere else. Just press the PTT and the shortcut keys you want to use. To disconnect just press the PTT and the D key. (Update 06/15/2012) MARQUETTE REPEATER ASSOCICATION ECHOLINK ON 146.97 or 444.800+ REPEATERS Star key- To check status C key - To connect to node number (Example C123456) D key- To disconnect B keys - Shortcuts (B1, B2, B3 etc) Use star key to check connect status. If you hear that it is connected just ID and ask if it is being used. If there is no responds then go ahead and make the connect you want, either by using the C and node number you want if you know it or by using B and number for one of the shortcuts I have put in. To disconnect when you are done just use the D key. This will just disconnect the last connected station. If there was another connected before that you just use D key again and it will disconnect that one. D will disconnect by last repeater connected. Remember when you connect to wait a few seconds and then ID or make a call for someone like you would normally do on any repeater. Also you will have to learn to leave a pause to let repeaters drop between transmissions. Here are the shortcuts I put in. Feel free to use them. B1- KC8QZG-R NEWBERRY REPEATER B2- K8DLM-R IRONWOOD REPEATER B3- K6IPC-R HOUGHTON REPEATER B4- KB0P-R ISHPEMING REPEATER B5- KD8JAM-R CALUMET REPEATER B6- W8PIF-R MENOMINEE REPEATER B7- WD0BCF HOUSTON, TX AREA LARRY ROGERS (member HARA AND MRA) AA - RANDOM USERS BB -- RANDOM REPEATERS OR LINKS (BASICLY THESE ARE THE SAME) When you use these random codes you do not need to know any node numbers to have fun. You will not know where in the world you will be connected too. Treat it like a repeater when you connect and put your call out.
