H.V.A.R.C. Minutes
March 7, 2006
The regular monthly meeting of the Hocking Valley Am= ateur Radio Club (H.V.A.R.C.) was called to order March 7, at 7:30 p.m. by 2006 c= lub president Tom Odell (AB8SJ). = The secretary was present.
No visitors were =
recognized.
Treasurer’s report present= ed by Gene Smith (N8BUS). Can be viewed at any meeting
A handcrafted thank you card was received from the P= hil Stanley family and was displayed for the group to read. It was hung in the radio room for continued enjoyment.
The Vehicle committee reports in with a mission statement. They would like to maintain the communications van to provide 24-hour emergency response for Hocking County.
Tom Odell reported
that he’s met with representatives from the Lancaster club regarding =
V.E.
testing. Logan will offer tes=
ting
on the odd months and Lancaster on the even months. No examiners will be exchanged at =
this
time without further arrangements.
The Morals clause
proposed by Tom Odell was withdrawn as written.
A vote was taken =
on
the subject of developing a Morals clause after some discussion. If the vote were to pass, a commit=
tee
would be gathered and assigned the task of researching and creating the
document. The vote returned 1=
1-NO
and 9-YES. There was no furth=
er
discussion on the topic.
Tom Odell reported
eight people attended radio night and discussed general radio topics.
Dave Brimner (KB8=
OTU)
reported there is no change in the G.O.B.A. status. Very little radio traffic was obse=
rved
on their announced test dates.

all officers now have keys to the front door, radio room and communications
van. Barb Buntoff has been gi=
ven a
key to the radio room.
Dave Brimner
revisited inviting Bill Parker to speak to our group on radio theory possib=
ly
at a radio night. Roman Wilsh=
anetsky
(W8TUZ) offered to contact Mr. Parker on our behalf. Dan Starner (W8RDS) added that if =
our
visit goes well, the club might offer to “sponsor” a lecture to
interested students at a local school.
Mel Myers (AA8BJ)
reported that the packet nodes are back online. The website should be edited to re=
flect
the same.
Mel also reported=
a
tabletop Mock Disaster is being planned for May. The date is to be announce=
d.
Tom Odell reminded
the group of upcoming C.E.R.T. training dates. March 21, 22, 27 and 28. Several in attendance who have alr=
eady
attended voiced their appreciation for the training.
Tom Odell reported
that the E.O.C. is planning a meeting for all C.E.R.T. members in March.
Gary Tucker (W8TU=
K)
expressed an interest in a basic and/or advanced weather-spotters class.
Roman Wilshanetsky
requested a correction be made to the February minutes. Olena Wilshanetsky is a member of =
our
Hocking Valley Amateur Radio Club.
She was incorrectly listed as a guest.
Mel Myers reported
that the Jupiter is now interfaced with the radio room computer. He also reports the “sloper&=
#8221;
has a high S.W.R.
Phil Stanley (KB8=
NZB)
requested the field day committee meet in April. He also requested his name be with=
drawn
from the radio room committee. Gary
Tucker offered to request our field day date be reserved at the American
Legion.
The flower fund
drawing was held. The winner,=
Nancy
Brimner (KC8DPE) returned proceeds back to the fund. Nancy
added the balance is now approximately $121.

Mel Myers (AA8BJ) made a motion to adjourn. Phil Stanley (KB8NZB) seconded the motion. The president adjourn= ed the meeting at 8:20pm. Next meeti= ng shall be April 4 at 7:30pm.
