H.V.A.R.C. Minutes
January 3, 2006
The regular monthly meeting of the Hocking Valley Amateur Radio Club (H.V.A.R.C.) was called to order January 3, at 7:30 p.m. by 2005 club president Mel Myers (AA8BJ). The secretary was present.
Elected officers for
2006 shall be:

Tyler Roley was recognized as a visitor. He is not currently licensed, but has an
interest in amateur radio. He is
currently an elementary school student.
The Treasurer’s report presented by Gene Smith (N8BUS), (which can be view in its entirety at any club meeting.
No old business was
presented.
Tom Odell asked the
group if they wished to continue to offer Volunteer Examiner (V.E.) testing
through our club. The collective opinion
is to continue to offer V.E. testing monthly on an alternating schedule with

Phil Stanley proposed
forming at least one committee for the purpose of maintaining and improving
areas of continuous club activity. I.e. repeater, communications van, club room. Ray Webb agreed on the need for at least one
small group dedicated to repeater maintenance and improvement. He then nominated Phil Stanley, Dan Starner, Wayne Pickett (WB8JFU), Mel Myers, Roy Vickers
(KC8TFW), and Ray Webb to this first committee.
Additional committees
shall be considered at the next meeting as club members have time
to evaluate their availability.
Ray Webb proposed
that the old repeater site located at Gary Knode’s
house be abandoned due to the success of the sole-site equipment located at
Calico Ridge. Any equipment shall be
removed from the old repeater site and the shelter left for the use and
enjoyment of Gary Knode. Ray added that various equipment removed from
the old repeater site may be valuable for parts and replacement sub-assemblies.
Dan Starner made a motion that Brad Taulbee (KD8AJG) be given
the responsibility of maintaining the club website due to his interest and
current cirriculum at
Dan Starner presented a draft of the 2006 club roster for
review of those members in attendance.
Corrections were made on the hard-copy.
Dave Brimner advised Frank Piper is seeking contact from those
persons who may be registered with the ARES in more than one county. Dave is our Emergency Coordinator (E.C.) for
Dave Brimner made a motion to send a donation to the Maxville
community center for the use of their facilities for our 2005 Christmas
party. The group decided on a donation
in the amount of $75. Ray Webb seconded
the motion. Roy Vickers said he would
make sure Dodi Carpenter receives our offer.
The flower fund
drawing was held. Winner returned
proceeds back to the fund.

A membership
application was submitted by Tyler Roley. After some discussion regarding his
eligibility, it was determined that he should apply for an associate membership
due to his status as a unlicensed amateur. His application was voted upon and
unanimously accepted. He was presented a
membership card and encouraged to seek his amateur radio license. Dan Starner
proposed that the H.V.A.R.C. bi-laws (section 2) be edited to clearly restrict
full membership to ONLY FCC-licensed amateurs.
It was agreed that the bi-laws could be made more definative.

Dave Brimner made a motion to adjourn. Phil Stanley seconded the motion. The president adjourned the meeting at 8:07 p.m. Next meeting shall be February 7 at 7:30 p.m.
