This is a real 'home page', since it contains only pictures of my home exterior remodel! (All of my antennas are down for this remodel - when they are back up this page will focus on them!)

Here is the back porch, area. You might notice the roof line has been 'lifted' to match the main roof line. The piece of chipboard on fence was used to keep the flying debris during roof removal off the driveway!
This is a closer look at the back porch, with porch roof line raised to match the original roof line. Also, as you can see, we are replacing all of the fascia boards with new 2x8 material
Here, you get a glimpse at the new roof line as seen from the deck. The new shingles have been installed on this section of roof.
We decided to use a premium grade 'laminate' shingle, with a 30 year rating. Compared to the standard '3 tab', there is no 'gutter' (instead, there is extra material glued to the top of a solid piece) and also looks a bit more like a wood shingle from a distance. The color is 'hickory'
This part of the roof was in the poorest shape, so they removed most of the overhanging parts and are rebuilding from scratch. That is Jon, the main man of the crew.
Here is the north side of the house. This is to show the new 2x8 fascia boards. We also will be covering the underside of the soffit (sp?) with 3/8" plywood - the original 3" boards, with 83 years of painting, represent a high maintenance item so we are covering it to make painting easier in future, plus it will look better.
Any doubt the siding needed to be replaced?? Here is a rough section of the south side original cedar siding. Also, you can see the crappy job the insulation contractor did in drilling holes, and the wooden plug replacement. I guess they figured out that this was all being replaced so didn't bother with neatness!!! We used a cellulite insulation for the walls instead of fiberglass, apparently it settles in better around wires etc.
This is a mock-up of the Hardiplank siding we are going to use. We decided to rip every other plank in half, retaining the wide / narrow look of the original siding. This is primarly cement, but you can see the wood grain effect. It comes primer painted, the dirt is just from contractors walking on the material!
Progress! The roofing material is on the back half of the house, so progress is being made!
So, more as the destruction turns into construction!
