Changes to the Club Bylaws

At the March 2008 club meeting a vote was held to amend the bylaws of the club to ignore the summer months (when many club members are gone) for the portion of the bylaws specifying a club officer position is considered "vacant" if that officer misses three club meetings in a year. This amendment passed 23-2.

At the February 2007 club meeting a vote was held to amend the bylaws of the club to establish an endowment fund in addition to what will now be called the "general fund". All money received from equipment contributions to the club, or cash contributions in excess of $100, shall be placed in the endowment fund. The Endowment Fund is not available for day-to-day operations and "such funds may be spent only to enhance or promote radio-related projects, or for expenditures deemed by the membership to further Amateur Radio in some way." This amendment passed 33-4.

At the January 2007 club meeting a vote was held to amend the bylaws of the club to require a copy of the bylaws be provided to all new members, and to existing members, upon request, for the cost of printing. This amendment passed 28-8. A second amendment to the bylaws was voted on which added the stipulation that a quorum of 1/3 of the voting membership be present to amend the bylaws. This amendment passed 27-5.

At the December 2006 club meeting a vote was held to amend the bylaws of the club to provide for a year-round meeting. That amendment passed by a vote of 26-3. This was a major change for the club, since the club has historically only met for seven months out the year and has been dormant during the hot summer months. But with the increasing full-time population in Yuma, it seemed reasonable to modify the bylaws to permit meetings to continue all twelve months. Another amendment was voted on to change the bylaws concerning the use of Robert's Rules of Order. That amendment passed by a vote of 28-1.
