July 21-22 2011 Powder Mtn. This was the last big opening here for the 2011
E's season with 201 q's
with most being worked the 22nd. This made up for CQ
WW VHF but too bad it wasn't a week earlier.

2011 CQ WW VHF Summary: Band QSOs Mults 6: 17 14 2: 8 8 Total: 25 22
Total Score = 726
Comments: Powder Mtn. (9000') DN41
This contest was like
pulling teeth for every qso with no E's to speak of.
I had to resort to
Meteor Scatter and a couple of EME q's to get a grand total of 25.
I packed
up 3 hours early and wouldn't you know it 6 meters opened but I'd had enough.

2011 June Vhf Contest Total: 650 203 Total Claimed Score =

What a contest with good weather for the most part with a little
rain.
Worked DX into Cuba, Bahamas and Turks & Caicos Is.
Worked a
bunch of guys on meteor scatter Sunday morning before 6 opened for E's
I had
to leave about 3.5 hrs early to tear down everything so missed some q's.
I
also blew up the 6 meter TE amp about an hour before quiting.
Great site here
at Powder Mtn. looking forward to CQ VHF

2010 CQ WW VHF (34,348) Quite a difference from last years (3358) even broke the 7 land record. (Records by call area)

2010 June Vhf Contest M2-2M12,50-5S,432-9WL I had to deal with snow
and 60 mph winds
but had a blast and a fierce battle with N5LZ in the lower
valley.
I think for 2011 I will invest in a contest voice keyer to save my
voice I could hardly talk by Sunday.
I didn't take first place in Utah which
was left to N5LZ (87,552 512/171) setting a new Utah record
but a close
second was my (79,947 413/189) with a win on 144 with a 2 meter E's opening to
OK, KS, WI, MI and IN.
Now I know how exciting a 2 meter E's opening can be.

May 28 2010 Getting the bug's out for the June contest. Had 60 mph winds that I thought were going to break the top off the rotor.

2010 January Vhf Qso Party M2-2M12,50-5S,M2-432SS and Ford rotor 1st place Utah 144 mhz

2009 Sept Vhf Qso Party 1st place Utah 50,144,432 with only 10 qso's

2009 Sept Vhf Qso Party (cool thrust bearing)
2009 CQ WW VHF 1st place Utah

2009 June Vhf Contest M2-2M7,50-5S and M2-432SS.
This was my first
major contest and I really learned alot having had the antenna hit by lightning
the first day shook things up a bit but luckily I knew it was coming and had
everything unhooked.
There was one other guy on a mountain (Monte Cristo) to
my East Chris (KB7EEG) that was operating from a tent and had a time with the
lightning.
I had PolyPhazers on all the incoming coax to a ground rod but
didn't want to try them out with my brand new FT-897D. Final Score (38,642) for
1st place Utah 50,144 mhz.
