| Enthusiastic students,
come to learn about HAM RADIO. The classes are from 9 am to 4 pm. A long day for young people, age 10 to 16. Activities such a designing a 20 meter dipole and then actually making one and proving the formula works..almost. |

In this picture, the students are taking a tour of the Whatcom County Emergency Communications Van which the kids will later use to make REAL LIVE ON-THE-AIR QSO's with Hams all across the country. |

Students built their very own Code Practice Keys. The kits consisted of a 4 x 6 wooden board, a copper clad key arm, screws, a 9 volt battery and a pizo speaker. They looked cool and they had to learn DC circuit theory in order to build them. |
|
| Kids
and "Elmers" had fun putting together 2 meter Yagis antennas
from hardware material. Measuring tapes, PCV pipe, duct tape, scissors.... GO! |
|
|
They
need to carefully measure before they cut their elements.
"2 meter half
wave element is 1 meter (3.28feet)" |

A perfect 2 meter Antenna with 7.3 db gain and a front to back ratio greater than 50 db. A perfect RDF Antenna. |
|
| All
that work, and finally the reward... a using the 2 meter yagis to find the hidden transmitter. |
