Amateur Radio Station

(Okinawa)

CALL SIGN K7KCS SINCE 1959

During my tour of duty in Hawaii we deployed twice to Okinawa.   I talked my Commanding Officer into authorizing me to take and set up my station there.  I built a 2 element bamboo spreader Quad for 20 meters.  I had a pipeline into Honolulu (until a typhoon came through and re-designed the Quad).  I ran endless phone patches for the guys in my unit to their wives and girl friends.   Although it would of been a grand opportunity to play DX station, we were far to busy to take advantage of it.
