Coos County Radio Club Members are active in numerous community events from formal regional and national activities, to weekly coffee clutches at favorite haunts. If you are a club member, you are welcome to have your event posted here. If you are a visitor, stop by and meet the local group, we are a friendly family organization and your presence will be most welcomed. You are only a stranger once!

Dornbecker Bicycle Run May 14th, 2016 9am-4pm Sturdivant Park Coquille The bike run is a fund raiser for the Dornbecker Children's Hospital in Portland, Or. and is put on by the Kiwanis Club.  The run is 62 miles long and operates from Coquille through Myrtle Point to Frona park outside of Dora and back.  CCRC supplies checkpoint communications as well as SAG wagon and ambulance calls. Please check with Dan W7WVF for further information.
Tour de Fronds June 18th, 2016 8am-7pm Powers, Oregon The Tour de Fronds is your choice of scenic bike rides on low traffic roads in Southern Oregons beautiful Coast Range.  CCRC and UVARC both supply event communications at checkpoints.

Park is near the river at the junction of Hwy 42 and Hwy 42S

This is the big social event of the year for the club.  We rent out camping and facilities at one of the county or state parks for the weekend.  Camping is open to anyone who wants to bring out their RV and is open from 2:00PM Friday to 2:00PM Sunday.  A potluck is held at 1:00PM Saturday.  Contact Fred WA7OBB for more information.

Circle the Bay Run First Saturday in August

August 6th
9am-1pm Ferry Park, North Bend Here's where folks get tuned up for the big marathons.  The event is put on by the Coos Running Club and is a grueling 19.2 mile run around Coos Bay.  CCRC supplies event communications at mileposts and checkpoints.
International Lighthouse and Lightship Weekend Third Saturday in August 8am- ??? Umpqua River Lighthouse, Winchester Bay This event is run in cooperation with the ILLW.  Although the event runs from 0001 UTC Saturday to 2359 UTC Sunday, CCRC sets up a station on Saturday (Friday evening and all day Saturday local time).  We also have a potluck around noon.
Steve Prefontaine Memorial Run Third Saturday in September

September 17th
9:30am-11:30am Downtown Coos Bay The Prefontaine run is held during the Bay Area Jamboree and is a 10 kilometer run from downtown Coos Bay, up Central Ave. and Ocean Blvd. and back.  Communications for the event is supplied by members of the Southwestern Oregon Repeater Association (SWORA).
Shore Acres Special Event Station Second weekend in December 9am-9pm on each day Shore Acres State Park, Charleston The Shore Acres special event station is operated in conjunction with the Friends of Shore Acres Holiday Lights display at the botanical gardens.
