NET CONTROL STATION GUIDE
NET CALLUP:
Good evening.
This is (name & call sign) in (location) opening the
Southern California Net/Santa Barbara Section.
This Net meets every evening at 2100 hours local time on the WB6OBB
Repeater. The purpose of the Net is to
handle formal traffic into and out of the tri-counties area. THIS IS A DIRECTED NET. To break-in, give your call sign and be
acknowledged by Net Control. All
amateurs are welcome to participate in handling traffic listed. As you check-in, please advise Net Control if
you can handle any listed traffic, and if you need to be excused early. Please stay on frequency until the session is
closed or until excused by Net Control.
NET SESSION SEQUENCE:
“Is there any EMERGENCY or PRIORITY traffic to
list?...call signs only.”
(If any such traffic listed, attempt to handle
immediately.)
“Liaison Stations with traffic please check-in...call signs only”
(RN6, SLO Pkt, SB Pkt, SM Pkt, Vandenberg Pkt, Golden
Bear, Mission Trail,
SB Cent Co ARES, SB No Co ARES, SLO
So Co ARES)
“Any other traffic, bulletins or contacts to list?...call
signs only.”
(At NCS option, an Assistant NCS can be requested to
call roll.)
“Net stations, please check-in as you are called: We have traffic for (list open traffic)”
(NCS call roll from most current Net Roster. Liaisons identify as called.)
“Other check-ins or visitors, please come now,”
“Traffic listed has been spoken for.” (If not, ask for volunteers to take traffic.)
“Stations with bulletins and contacts...please stand-by.”
(Handle bulletins, first. Then excuse all but those handling traffic or
involved in contacts, as follows):
“Except for those handling traffic (or involved with contacts), all others are
excused at will. Thanks for checking
in.”
(Handle listed traffic and contacts. Traffic is generally handled first, exception
would be urgent business, station has
a schedule, etc.)
“Late check-ins or further business for this Net session?”
NET CLOSING:
“To those participating tonight, thank you and good night. The Southern California Net/Santa Barbara Section is now closed and the frequency is open. Our thanks to WB6OBB for the use of the repeater. (call sign) clear.”
