Old Business:

The slate of officers for 2011 is as follows:

President: Brad Low, K5BDL

Vice-President: Jimmie Stutzman, KM5RY

Secretary-Treasurer: William Foreman, K5WCF

Rondo Crim (WB5TGE) made a motion to approve the slate of officers.  Greg Compton (AG5LC) seconded and the motion passed.

New Business:

William Foreman (K5WCF) reported that there was $106.10 in the CCARC bank account.  The club accepted dues ($15) from JC Cason (NJ5C).

The annual eating meeting has been set for Thursday, December 2, 2010 at 6:30 PM at The Olde Store in Gallatin.  A reservation has been made as of tonight for approximately 30 people.

The club members discussed simplex frequencies to use if the repeaters in Jacksonville are not functioning.  Our club simplex frequency is 147.500 MHz (PL 136.5 Hz if needed).  Other simplex frequencies that can be used include the national 2 meter simplex frequency (146.520).  Brad Low (K5BDL) will look at the Palestine/Anderson County ARC website for their list of simplex channels for inter-county communication and coordination.

Trey Lanier (N5CFL) will contact Doug Butts at NWS-Shreveport for SKYWARN training.  A tentative date will be the first Thursday of February (February 3, 2011).

Richard Nielsen (K5RN) brought up the possibility of a field trip to a power plant.  He has been in communication with Clayton Coleman (W5PFG) about arranging a visit.

Nets for November:

November 11 – AG5LC

November 18 – WB5TGE (trader’s net following with K5RN)

No net on November 25 (Thanksgiving Day)

There was some discussion about promoting our trader’s net.  Brad Low (K5BDL) will be looking at contacting area ham clubs about our net.  Even if they cannot check-in to the net, they can send their needs, for sale items, and announcements via our club e-mail.  It will be restricted to radio-related material.

Jim Stutzman (KM5RY) brought up RACES (Radio Amateur Civil Emergency Service) training that can be done online.  Homeland Security/FEMA sponsor training for the Incident Command System (ICS) online and people can take the courses and receive certification.  Another way for disaster training is through ARRL NTS nets such as the 7290 net held daily at 10 AM.  Ken Bratz (WA5JUM) holds the Texas State Red Cross net on the second Saturday of each month at 9 AM on 3835 kHz.  Several counties participate in that net.  Brad will be compiling information to be made available on the club’s website and a future Cherokee County ARES/RACES manual.

Rondo made a motion to adjourn.  It was seconded by JC and the meeting closed at 8:06 PM with no objections.
