6T9 CW transmitter

Here are some pictures of my 6T9 CW rig, which I affectionately refer to as the "Little Giant Mark II" (the Mark I version was a lot less pleasing to the eye, and was eventually scrapped!). The heart of this little rig is a 6T9 Compactron tube from G.E. The triode section of the tube is the crystal oscillator, and the pentode section is the power amp. Power output is about 4 Watts. Most of the parts used here, including the Stancor power transformer, were either new or NOS. It has a bandswitch (wow!) to select 80m or 40m. Not much to this one, but it works well and is fun to use. Dig that nifty 1960s Calectro plate current meter!

This rig is based on a design that appeared in the 1972 ARRL Radio Amateur's Handbook. I built it in July, 1994.
