MISSION AND HISTORY
The Wellington Radio Club was founded in 1999 to support emergency communications and radio amateurs in the
Western Communities centered on  the Village of Wellington,
Palm Beach County, in southeast Florida, USA.
Our Radio Amateur Civil Emergency Service, RACES, affiliated group
promotes emergency preparedness,  community service
and strives to create a positive image of the radio amateur.
Our members conduct themselves, and all Club activities,
in accordance with the spirit of Amateur's Code.

The WRC has established an excellent track record
and responds to the needs of both members and community.
In support of community and neighborhood emergency preparedness,
many Members are receiving CERT,
Community Emergency Response Team, training
and are their Western Communities CERT team communicators.
The WRC enjoys a unique, harmonious relationship with the
Village of Wellington having proven our members' dedication and
emergency communications skills during a number of hurricanes,

Y2K night, numerous exercises and public service events.
(See the WRC Public Service webpage)
Members come from many parts of Palm Beach County;
however,  the vast majority are from the Western Communities.
In July 2002,  the WRC's Constitution was amended to
reflect the club's expanded membership.
The changes provide many more opportunities for all full members
to assume leadership roles and for those
radio amateurs residing in the Western Communities
the opportunity to immediately become full members.

You do not have to be a licensed radio amateur to join...
just have a sincere interest  in radio communications
and community service
.
