Here I am preparing for a different type of mobile effort.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                         This after photo shows I utilize proper "Grounding", why settle for less??

This is what happens in a track "Pile Up". If you think this looks bad you should see my station!!!

First licensed in 1996 under the call KF4LHM , I had become discouraged after the day in day out of what the VHF and UHF bands had to offer me as a new ham with limited resources. With the exception of Field Day, FM repeaters, simplex and packet had bored me to death!! So with the last move to our current QTH, the towers and antenna's were not in the new plans to get put back up. Some basic radio gear was kept in hopes of one day reemerging after getting our business off the ground.

(The reawakening )  My wife Michelle, had decided that she was going to study for her technician license, and she went to work to get it. She had also taken the exam back in '96 but after missing it by 1 question she had given up!!  Now with helping her with her theory I had realized what I was in need of.. an upgrade! So we dug in with a few weeks to the next exam. What a time we had ! That morning at the exam, Michelle had Passed and was issued KG4TDO, which she quickly changed to K4SXY. Marie, a close friend of ours from down the street  <I did say close>  also Passed her exam and received KG4TDN, and I had passed my exams to receive my Extra. It was a Great day!!

Plans were made that weekend to participate in Field day '02, we had made arrangements to have the kids taken care of so we could be part of the action. This is where a switch was thrown in my head. Even though Field Day is an exercise, I  realized this laid back event has something that I wanted more of, a contest type atmosphere.  Watching and listening to terrific operators flawlessly logging  weak and strong stations at incredible speeds was Amazing !!! This is what I want to strive to become quick, knowledgeable, efficient and accurate! Since that time I have entered a few contests and find with each one, regardless of score, were frustrating.. some tiring ..and even some confusing.. and  the worst thing of all... I had a blast!!! Now with my new found addiction, I find myself scavenging for anything that may be of use in my new station. From the rigs to the towers and antenna's. I will be working to perfect what I can in this small city lot. As of now HF is very unreliable here with what I have to work with.

the 6m-up tower  is also currently under construction, SSB and CW for 2m duties is an Icom 251a, feeding a Mirage 160watt brick, to a homebrew 11ele 18ft boom yagi. For 432 an Icom 451a, no current amp, and a K1FO 25ele yagi takes care of the UHF station.
