AWARDS INFORMATION

THE MOBILE AMATEUR RADIO AWARDS CLUB INC.

AWARDS INFORMATION PACKET
May 1, 1999

GENERAL INFORMATION

REGULAR MEMBERS

Regular members of MARAC are issued numbered membership cards. They may use the letters `MARAC R'
followed by their win /n

issued number on their QSL cards. This counts two points for anyone working for the Associate Membership
Award. If you are a regular or charter member and have the Associate Award, use the Regular or Charter
membership number on your QSL cards.

QUALIFICATIONS

All MARAC awards are available to any licensed amateur radio operator anywhere in the world. Where
applicable, the MARAC awards are also available for Short Wave Listeners (SWLs) on a heard basis.

You may be operating as Mobile, Portable, or any Fixed Location or any combination thereof to qualify for
MARAC awards.

All awards are made for valid two-way radio contacts between amateurs for the various award certificates as
listed in this information packet except that some awards are available to SWLs on a heard basis. These
exceptions are listed in the individual award write-ups. For purposes of clarification, only direct signal report
exchanges shall constitute a valid contact. Reports used with other than numerical signal reports shall not be
considered as a valid contact.

Contacts made with teams will be valid for MARAC awards. Team contacts are those as defined where both
persons acknowledges and returns a signal report and both Amateur Call Signs are logged. All MARAC records
for team operations will be kept in alphabetic "Suffix" sequence by calls used on the applications. All MARAC
awards issued for team operations will be processed with calls listed alphabetically.

Except for the USA Counties Award all contacts used in applying for MARAC awards do not have to be
confirmed by QSL cards or a County Hunter/Mobile Reply Card. The contacts for the USA Counties Award must
be confirmed by QSL or a Reply Card. Do not submit cards with your award applications. They will be requested
if needed for verification. Awards will be issued with a 'N' suffix to the Award Number for those awards that are
issued for non confirmed contacts. For most awards, using data from your log will suffice for the information
needed.

For purposes of clarification, The official list of counties to be used in certifying all applications will be the actual
counties in existence on the date that the award application is received by MARAC. (The same list accepted for
USA-CA by CQ Magazine)

DEFINITION

independent of all commercial power sources and able to travel at any time without having to disconnect any
wiring or changing any antennas in order to change locations.

DATES

The award date for any MARAC Award will be the date that the application is processed by the Awards
Chairman with the exception of the date on the LC-2 plaque, which is the date of the last contact.

Master County Hunter Award

Created by W6CCM

Revised January 20, 1998

Sometimes called "Bingo". This award is sponsored by MARAC and may be worked in conjunction with the USA-CA, and any other
MARAC Award. Starting July 10, 1997 this award may be worked more than one time provided you finish and are awarded a number each
time before you start again. The Object is to work stations, fixed, portable or mobile or any combination thereof with the station having the
first letter of the county name as part of the suffix of his call. For example Dane Wisconsin, could be worked with K9DCJ, W5VDW , W9ZD
etc.

To make it a little easier, the following "Wild Cards" may be used.

1. Holders of USA-CA numbers (the CQ Award or USA Counties issued by MARAC) may be used regardless of county name provided the
contact is made after the issuance of number.

2. Dual letter calls- W6CCM, WB4FFV, W2CUC, KC5CV etc-may be used one letter above or below. For W6CCM a county name beginning
with a "B" or a "D" could be used in addition to the "C" and the "M". (Note calls with WW and YY may be used for a V and W and Z thus
are not upgraded to wild card).

3. Any letter may be used from calls such as AI5P, N2BL, KB7QO etc. (two by one, or one by two or two by two calls). And, since there are
no counties beginning with the letter "X", a call with an "X" in it may be used for ANY county. The call must contain and "X" in any location
to qualify for a wild card.

4. For counties with two or more words in the name, the first letter of any word may be used to coincide with the call (i.e. W,B, or R for West
Baton Rouge: J or H for Jim Hogg). For Alaskan counties use either First Judicial Division or Southeastern , etc.

For endorsements of mode or band, your listing must show the mode and/or band for all contacts. Listings will not be returned. Basic fee $40
for members / $50 for non members or non current members. (Note: If you do not want the Plaque, The Master County Hunter certificate only,
may be issued for a basic fee of $2 for current members or $3 for non members or non current members. Contacts for this award may be
