K3MTT QSL Card

Hi, my name is Frank and I have held the callsign K3MTT since 1960. My ham radio interests have changed over the years as is appropriate for a hobby that provides so many avenues for growth and individuality.

As many hams have done, I spent a good deal of time early on chasing DX, building, experimenting, VHF Contesting and running an Air Force MARS net in Northeastern PA. Activity subsided for a few years due to things like college, work, marriage, kids etc. Activity resumed in the 70's from a new QTH, but the interest in DXing, CW and generally in HF just didn't seem to be there. Probably in part due to the fact that a natural disaster destroyed my station, logs, QSL collection and certificates earned in the 60's. Renewed activity came in the mid 70's with new interests and activities. In the mid 70's I became involved with an effort to restart the Carroll County Amateur Radio Club. It quickly became a focal point for a number of my HAM interests. Repeaters, public service events, classes, building, RTTY, packet radio, Club administration, the Mason-Dixon Computer & Hamfest, collecting antique radios, along with operating became my main ham radio interests in the ensuing years. Currently I'm rebuilding my HF station and relocating it to one of the spare bedrooms after 38 years in the basement. Hopefully, a new shack combined with some equipment and antennas will put me on track to take advantage of the cycle.

Some family ham history. My wife Sandie is N3MAK, my sons are Frank Jr. KA3OMD, and Chris KA3PRD. My brother is Gerry K3MKZ. My father, now a silent key, was licensed as K3SBN. I also have an uncle and cousin who are licensed but inactive.

Since I am the Webmaster for the Carroll County Amateur Radio Club in Westminster, MD, I will devote my energy to maintaining that site and not replicate that effort or information here but may add a link to sites of interest. Drop in and visit the CCARC page at www.qis.net/~k3pzn.

I would like to hear from old friends and HAMs that I may have worked over the years who come across this page. Email me at [email protected]. If your in Maryland and traveling west of Baltimore, I can usually be found monitoring 146.475 Mhz. simplex or the 449.875 Mhz. Repeater. Occaisionly I visit the 145.410 Mhz. repeater where I had served as the K3PZN Repeater Committee Chairman from 1980 until 1990.

Good DX and 73, K3MTT
