The West Orange Repeater System

The Finest Sound Around !

222.880 / 224.480 147.415 / 146.415 442.875 / 447.875

You are invited to join the W2QR Repeater System. The repeater is located in West Orange, New Jersey. The 2 meter repeater output is 146.415 MHz and the input is 147.415 MHz. The PL is 85.4 Hz. The 1.25 meter repeater's output is 224.480 Mhz and input is 222.880 Mhz. The 70 cm repeater's output frequency is 447.875 Mhz with an input of 442.875 Mhz. The PL is 156.7 Hz

The repeater was started in 1973 by twelve amateurs, who felt that an open machine would foster a better understanding and attitutde toward amateur radio. The repeater has held three call signs since that time: WR2AGZ, WR2AIV, and finally W2QR. The machine offers all of its associates full radio control, including machine on and off, autopatch, specialized reverse patch, time, touch tone pad test, linking to other bands, and, in the future, a link to 450 MHz, weather on a delay line, and a low band gateway.

The repeater uses a GE exciter driving a home-brewed 4CX250B amplifier controlled by a CAT-1000 controller, coupled to a Super Station Master antenna 600 feet above sea level on the second Wachung Mountain range. This arrangement delivers a 400 Watt ERP signal. The repeater also has a western remote receiver linked back to the main transmitter through a voting system.

We are able to maintain the repeaters and all the additions for $24.00 per year for both the 2 meter and 450 Mhz repeaters. If you would like to become associated with the repeater, please print and complete the membership form, then send it, along with a check, to:

WA2JSB
27 Lincoln Avenue
West Orange, NJ 07052

Upon receipt of the application, you will receive an information packet with codes detailing how to access all the functions of the repeater.
