The QTH is Uncasville, Connecticut. This town was named after the famous Mohegan Indian Chief Uncas. This web site is a place for me to play around with making a web site. I am a retired Master Chief. I did most of time aboard submarines of which the USS SeaRobin SS407 was one.

My amateur radio activities:  SSB net on 3940Hz, 9:00am on Mondays, of retired employees of the Underwater sound lab;  CW net with the same bunch at 9:00pm on Mondays on 3571Hz; CW with #1 son on Thursdays at 8:00pm on 3571Hz; FM net on 146.535Mhz(Simplex) on Fridays at 9:00pm.

I was first licensed as W6YIK in San Francisco, California in 1946. My home town is Fort Bragg, California. My very first on the air contact was on 2 1/2 meters running a home brew  super regen detector/modulated oscillator. I was half AM and half FM with a slow drift up in frequency. I could never be QRM'ed because I was a moving target. During the years I was in the Navy I was not too active. Ham operations aboard submarines was not allowed and I was too busy playing sailor. I did spend a lot of time in the radio shack aboard ship copying the Navy Fox broadcasts.
