The AMARC 6 Meter AM Band-Pass Filter Antenna Connector Modification

The Filter had a slip-on antenna connector, which I figure was to slide the transmitter on to. Well, anyway it was on the side of the filter, and I needed an SO-238 antenna connector on the rear.

Here are the steps I took in replacing the connector.

First step was to remove the rear cover, then the slip-on connector, and then wire link to the helical resonator

The old antenna connector hole made a convient way to solder the new connector lead on to the helical resonator. When finished, I had some chrome button plugs that fit nicely to cover the hole.

The next step was to cut a hole in the rear panel for the connector, and then tap the connector mounting holes for 4-4Ø screws.

The next step was to connect a short piece of copper wire to the connector, and then shape it so when the connector is in place it is against the outside of the helical resonator.

The last step was to install the connector on the back panel, then instll the panel, and solder the copper wire to the helical resonator.
