PRESIDENTS CORNER
We had a nice meeting, covered some good topics, and had coffee
afterwards. Was nice to see a good turn out. We still have some
projects to finish up. The cargo trailer needs to get the shelving put
in.
KCØJVJ is on a nice trip to California. Some of the
members have been tracking him on APRS. Interesting way to track
Curtis.
A few of us went to Mobridge SD, to the Chapter 102 QCWA
meeting. Was nice to meet some of the folks that we have been talking
with. Had a nice meeting. The meal was very good. Looking
forward to next years meeting. Anyone that has been licensed for 25 years
or more may be a member in QCWA.
Everyone has been very busy with all the summer
activities. The bands have not been the best, but some of the members have
been making some nice DX contacts. And know the harvest has started, so
many have been busy in the fields.
Our picnic went well, we had a nice crowd. We had around
79 people register. The ladies did another great job with the meals.
Many thanks to all whom donated items for the auction, and drawings, also many
thanks to the children's group that donated their funds from their lemon aid
stand.
KIØBJ, Rex, from Hardin MT, put on a nice seminar on APRS.
It was very informative.
NØJDP was the winner of the draw prize. The new tents
worked out very well and were a lot cooler. Also easy to set up. We
had a lot of people that helped to make our picnic a great success, many thanks
to you all. And hope that we see you all again next year.
We all were very sorry to hear of WØNGN, Gladys, becoming a
silent key. Our condolences to KØQQ, Art, and family.
All stay safe and enjoy the nice weather. Hope to see you
at the next meeting.

Margaret's Corner
Excuse me folks - I must be getting old. I
need to make some corrections to my last writing. Rolf's call is
DK4HB, Ed's call is KAØSXP and Irene won a regular handheld, not a Dual
Band Radio. I also missed a raffle winner - Kim, NØQAV, won the handmade
rug donated by Richard KCØGJG.
I also forgot to mention that several members went
to Fort Peck for the Annual Northeast Montana Father's Day picnic. It was
suggested that the picnic be held in the group area at Fort Peck each year with
the various Ham groups taking turns in hosting the event. They will try it
next year and Wolf Point will be the host.
Bill, KØUB, and Irene, WDØDAW, along with Joe,
NØQAU, went to the Glacier Hamfest and reported they had a good time.
There were some major changes at the Hamfest too due to a change in management
of the campground. Stan, WDØDAJ, and Betty, KBØNVT, left the Peace Gardens
and went the opposite direction to spend a week in Detroit Lakes with family and
then on to Wisconsin for a visit with friends. While these good folks were
gone we had a couple of severe weather watches out but the need for Skywarn
Spotters never materialized even though we had been put on alert.
On July 24th, eight guys and a couple of gals
showed up at Mark, WØZCM and Elizabeth's house for an antenna take-down
party. Mark's roof was going to be shingled and the hardware needed to
come down. It was nice visiting with Mark and Elizabeth and even Mark's
little dog wanted to be in on the action. The guys cleared the roof in a
good time.
Everyone helping with the parade for the 11th
annual Horsefest at Taylor had to get up early to be there by eight a.m.
We had a great crew of thirteen helpers. There were no major incidents to
be reported. Since most left their homes before breakfast and emergency
run was made to Richardton for rolls to go with the coffee made in
the trailer. Leftover goodies were served at the August club
meeting. We did have a few sprinkles to begin the day but for the most
part it was a nice sunny day. There were some beautiful teams of horses in
the parade - both big and small.
Dean NØND has been in the area for vacation so we
get to see him for coffee. Lucky for us too, because on Wednesday Aug.
11th, Dean's outfit was spotted by Ken, W6FU who is vacationing in the area
also. Dean informed Ken of our coffee hour at Arby's so Ken and his
grandson Brandon joined us. They had a nice visit with the group and we
all were impressed with Brandon. Ken said he was highly prejudiced and
proud as can be of Brandon and I can see why. He's a very nice, bright
young man. Ken and Brandon stopped in briefly Thursday morning to say
goodbye. Don LaPlante, N7OLN was also in the area Thursday morning and
visited with the gang. By the way, if you see an outfit with NDØND plates
- it's Dean!
I hope the rest of the summer goes well for
all. We have had a good taste of fall these last few days.
