PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE
This is a beautiful time of year, and new life abounds! I hope this newsletter finds each of you appreciating and being rejuvenated by the many gifts from Mother Nature.
Congratulations to Leon Kirschemann, KØLU
for being our club's nomination of "Ham of the Year!" You are a tremendous
asset to the club and thanks for all you do. Your nominatin will represent
us well at the upcoming 44th International Peace Garden Ham Fest,
July 13, 14, and 15th. On Saturday, July 14
Leon KØLU, provided some very useful information on DXing other countries and his wisdom regarding QSL cards. He also encouraged us to check out some fun web sites, www.AC6V.com and www.DXSCAPE.com. Joe Callahan, NØQAU provided us with a demonstration on the proper use of repeaters. Thanks much to each of you for sharing your time and knowledge with the group. Hopefully Jim Faye, NØSJ, can provide us some on going education pertaining to "Good Operating Practices" at our June 4th meeting.
We will finalize the clothing order at the next meeting. Irene Bosch, WDØDAW, and Betty Kittelson, KBØNVT displayed clothing with our club logo and will place an order of your preferred items in time for Field Day, June 23, 24, and the parade on June 30th.
Thanks to David Williams, KØHKY, for his willingness to be our Field Day Coordinator, and Bill Bosch's, KØUB willingness to assist him. We welcome and encourage all members to participate in the various aspects of this important, but fun annual event! This event is held at the Dickinson Trap Club located 2 miles west of Highway 10 and State Street intersection, and 1 mile south. Signs will mark the way.
Melissa Sheppard, KØAAK, has taken some fine initiative on getting Field Day information out to the public and media outlets. Thanks Melissa!
Thanks to Bill Bosch, KØUB and Deb Barros, KCØADI for coordinating the communications for the Roughrider Days Parade (awaiting time and meeting place). Hopefully a good delgation from TRARC will be assisting with the Parade.

A special welcome to John and Evelyn Bjorness who joined TRARC this month!
After the educational input at the June 4th meeting, plan to stay for coffee and cake as we wish Joe Callahan, NØQAU and his wife Kim best wishes on his new job as Vice Chancellor at Northern College in Havre, MT.
Wishing each of you a safe and fun summer, and of course, good hamming!

MARGARET'S
CORNER
Severe
weather season is here again. It seems that our 82 repeater is a target
for the first nasty lightning bolts that hit the area. In addition it
was brought up at the meeting on Monday evening that the net had not been
aired for the last two Sundays. On Monday Stan and Joe took a trip to the
repeater site to see what was wrong. The controller with the autopatch
needed repairs and the surge protector was dead also. New resistors were
acquired from Emil's handy supply. Thanks go to Darrel Heick KCØAPN for
resistor repairs for the 82 repeater controller. If more work is needed it
may have to be sent to Billings.
As I said in
my last article, changes are on the way. Joe NØQAU has accepted the
position of Vice Chancellor and Provost at Montana State University -
Northern in Havre Montana for two years. He will be sorely missed around
here. Kim will remain in Dickinson and visit Joe monthly. Good Luck in
your new position Joe! I'm sure you'll be getting calls and emails from
the gang back here on a regular basis.
There are
numerous upcoming events and it is nice to see our newer hams getting
involved. It seems there is never a lack of things to do from May till
August and the time goes faster and faster. Have a good
summer!

SELF/FAMILY - CARE IN CASE OFPANDEMIC FLU.
Everyone is susceptible to flu. Pandemic flu is at least as
contagious as seasonal flu and more virulent. Because public health
resorces (hospitals, personnel, and medicines) are expected to be limited
in a flu pandemic, self-family-care is essential. "Family
Preparedness Guide" is available at Stark County Red Cross (telephone:
483-8704). "Pandemic Flu Planning Checklist for Individuals and Families"
is on the web at www.pandemicflu.gov/plan/individual/checklist.html.
Plan ahead! Be prepared!! Be part of the solution, rather than the
problem!!! Thanks!
