Time is going by to fast. Our last meeting was well attended. Glen WDØDAI will be operating field day from his home. As everyone this year is busy with other activities. The YL-ISSB Convention is in Bismarck on the same weekend.

Thanks to all that helped with the Parade over The 4th of July and to Curtis KCØJVJ for coordinating the group.

The YL-ISSB Convention went well we all had a great time. Thanks to KB7ITR AND NØDK for hosting a great convention.

The Peace Garden Hamfest went well. It rained, and there were mosquitoes, There were 138 registered the smallest group ever. Nice prizes, good camaraderie. Good food.

The TRARC picnic will be August 14 and 15th. At the Dickinson Trap Club.

For some the days seem to go very slowly, for me there are days I wish they would - go a little slower  that is. All that I can say is - where has the time gone?
In May and June we got some badly needed moisture and I must say North Dakota hasn't been so beautiful in years. We came through the badlands recently and they are just gorgeous. Of course there are some places that wish the rain would let up a little. Our neighbors to the north are literally swimming. Fields are flooded and so are basements in some areas.
Our convention for the YL system is history. We couldn't go to the annual Father's  Day picnic at Fort Peck this year since we were getting things ready to go to Bismarck but Darrel and Laurie, Tony and Marj and Ed and Bonnie made it to go there. As for the convention, the Good Lord smiled down on us and gave us good weather. A little warm, perhaps, but not all that unbearable. Convention goers got to see North Dakota in its finest greenery  and thanks to Leon and Cindy and our Dickinson members they received a heaping dose of North Dakota hospitality. We had folks from all over the United States as well as Puerto Rico, Barbados and Halifax, Nova Scotia. They left with a little brighter picture of what North Dakota was all about. Due to the convention, Field Day activities were delegated to the home of Glen WDØDAI.
The annual trek to the Peace Gardens came next. We were treated to a Sunday evening thunderstorm with wind and torrential rain on the 3rd of July even as we were hoping that it was drying out a bit. We weren't all that unprepared because calls to the Gardens before we arrived confirmed that things were a bit on the soggy side. Mosquito Beater and Yard Guard worked pretty good on the Skeeters till the last morning when we were getting ready to leave. That's when they attacked with a vengeance. It rained a bit on Thursday night and of course had to end our stay as it began - with a thunderstorm and heavy rain on Sunday night.
While at the Peace Gardens we learned that Dave VE4XN was not the only one giving up his job. John McQueen, executive director of the Gardens, and Ole and Lynda, campground hosts for the last four years, were also leaving. We had come to know these individuals very well and are sorry to see them go. They will be sorely missed. The party for Dave was a complete surprise and so was the plaque presented to him at the business meeting on Sunday. No one came home with any real big prizes this year except for one. The $25 cash donated by TRARC was won by none other than Bill KØUB.
This has been a busy two months with everyone having numerous places to go and somehow went too fast. The members carried out their duties at two parades - one on Armed Forces Day and the other for Roughrider Days - very ably. HorseFest and the Picnic are just around the corner. Hope everyone is having a good summer.
