PRESIDENTS MESSAGE
The answer to last month's Trivia question, "What is the grace period during which the FCC will renew and expired 10 year license" is that you are not allowed to operate during a grace period; however, you keep your privileges for 2 years.  After that, they are lost for good.  So is our call sign.  Don't forget to renew!

It is always fun in attending the CDARC hamfest in Bismarck, N.D. and this year was no exception.  Emil, NØDK, won the Home Brew Contest with his home-made 20 and 89 meter antennas's and Tony, K7TNY, was the winner of the $100 door prize drawing.

Section Manager Kent Olson, KAØLDG, is reminding the radio clubs in North Dakota to run a spring check on all club equipment - from radios to generators - to make sure everything is working well in case of an emergency.  Hopefully, we can get this done the first part of April on a nice weather day.

Joe Callahan, NØQAU, has informed us that the TRARC meeting on April 3rd, 2006 will be on Skywarn Training, and it will be held at the National Guard Armory at 7:00 P.M.  the NWS always makes an excellent and interesting presentation.

The Trivia question for the month is:
"What is one way to notify the FCC if your mailing address changes"?  This will be answered in next month's newsletter.  By the time you are reading this, SPRING will be here.

I guess the one big highlight since the last writing was the annual trek to Bismarck for the Hamfest at the end of February. Like last year, some of us fell out of bed somewhere in the wee hours of the morning. Others were a little more conservative and got up at a closer to normal time and came later. Bill K0UB had a table reserved and displayed QCWA materials. Emil had his homebrew antennas out also. Surprisingly, a large number of people were interested in the antennas. Emil won the homebrew contest and received a book as a prize. Bill was a prize winner in the drawing and Tony  "Mr. Lucky" pocketed $100 as the door prize winner. We had nice weather for the event this year and it was nice to see those that participated.
The newest project around here is Echo Link. It's kind of weird to hear folks as if they were in the house but their voices are coming over the computer. What next?
It's hard to believe spring is here. Our "winter" weather has been phenominal compared to other parts of the state and nation. Once more I have to say that we are so blessed.
I read a tidbit in the Wolf Point Herald today that I thought would be worth repeating here. It's something written by George Washington Carver. It reads " I love to think of nature as an unlimited broadcasting station, through which God speaks to us every hour, if we will only tune in."
Till next time, we hope to see you at the Skywarn meeting. Happy Easter to all!
