Environment Around YRP

Introduction

The Yokosuka Research Park is in a very nice location. Close to the ocean. Clean air. The path to the train station goes through rice and vegetable fields --- if you work late you may see fireflies on the way home. YRP donated some land to Yokosuka City for a nature preserve, part of which is open to the public. Great place to eat a box lunch on a spring day.

Irrigation pond and terraced fields. Not much arable land in Japan, so we must make use of every bit we can, even on steep slopes. Cloudy today, but on a clear day you'd be able to see the ocean.

Building goes right up against the hills. Excellent scenery to see out of an office window.

Native ducks in the nature preserve park. Some stay all year round, but many just winter over.

The part of the nature preserve park that's open to the public. There are several more ponds off to the left hidden behind the hills that are exclusively for the bugs, birds, and fish. (And don't you dare release any black bass into the pond --- it's for native species only.)
