Jersey City Amateur Radio Club

The press release announcing our formation is here. The second press release, announcing our affiliation with the Hudson County Red Cross, is here.

Our response to the WTC disaster is described in our third press release.

The formation of the Cirri Memorial Radio Club is recorded here.

Here is a link to a story at the ARRL's website about some of our WTC efforts.

We did get a mention in the Jersey Journal's community column in August. Here is a link to a story about us in the Jersey Journal. We are also now listed in the ARRL Hudson Division's club directory.

Our first official meeting was held on Thursday, Sept. 13th, 7 PM at the Hudson County Red Cross building (26 Greenville Ave., Jersey City, NJ 07305). They have off-street parking and beautiful meeting facilities. Thank you to the Red Cross for allowing us to meet on their premises! All JCARC members should sign up as volunteers for the Red Cross. They are a very worthwhile organization! (We are in debt to Silent Key KA2OTD, Bob Cirri, the former NNJ Hudson County District Emergency Coordinator, for paving the way for our arrangement with the Red Cross.)

This was our meeting agenda, and here is a copy of what happened at the meeting.

The October meeting was held on Sunday the 14th, 5 PM. Our agenda for that meeting is here.

The meeting schedule of the Cirri Memorial Radio Club is here. No separate meetings for the JCARC are planned.

The JCARC and Cirri Memorial Radio Club plan to meet regularly on 2 meters on 146.580 MHz simplex.

We now have three VE's (volunteer examiners) and can schedule license testing sessions. (A fourth VE would be helpful in case of illnesses or other unforeseen events.) Testing sessions are listed here.

Jersey City currently has 155 licensed ham radio operators, and New Jersey has 16355.

NOTE: JCARC is no longer affiliated with Red Cross or the Cirri Memorial Radio Club. This page will no longer be updated. The Cirri Club wishes JCARC well, and looks forward to working with them during emergency drills and other events.
