JERSEY CITY AMATEUR RADIO CLUB SERVES HUDSON COUNTY RED CROSS

August 28, 2001, Jersey City, NJ: The Jersey City Amateur Radio Club (JCARC) will be serving as a communications back-up facility for the Hudson County Red Cross. The happy affiliation means that the JCARC will be based at the Red Cross's offices in Jersey City, where ham radio licensing classes and exam sessions will be offered.

The American Red Cross provides relief to victims of disaster and helps people prevent, prepare for, and respond to emergencies. It offers a host of public safety training at its facilities that go far beyond amateur radio. First Aid, CPR, and other disaster training is available from the organization whose name is synonymous with care and volunteerism.

All area residents are invited to contact either the Red Cross (at 433-3100) or the JCARC (at 659-0041) for more information about becoming a volunteer. The JCARC's web site is at http://www.qsl.net/jcarc/.
