TRANSMITTING
WITH AUDIO CARD
VARIOUS CIRCUITES TO USE PTT AND AUDIO
FOR RECEIVING
Reception with audio card is very easy;
make a shielded cable (as short as possible) to connect Audio
Out in your RTX to MIC IN (LINE IN for agwpe, LINE ON or MIC IN for flexnet) in your Audio
Card; usually audio card uses a stereo jack while RTX uses a mono one;
FOR TRANSMITTING
Transmitting Packet with audio card is easy; you need only two thing:
If you are running under Windows, deactive the hardware you use for PTT (COM, LPT, GAME PORT) in the CONTROL PANEL for the FLEXNET configuration; make that clicking on "DEACTIVE IN THIS HARDWARE PROFILE" or "DELETE FRM THIS PROFILE"; make that if you are using flexnet; if you use agw packet engine that's not necessary.
To activate PTT you can use:
SERIAL PORT:
PARALLEL PORT:
GAME PORT:
VOX:
All these circuits can be used with flexnet; I'm not sure about the use of midi port with agw packet engine (but you can use serial, parallel and vox).
The simplest way is to connect the Output of
the audio card (LINE OUT o SPKR) to the MIC IN line in your
RTX directly; simplest but not the best;
Take a lot of care in shielding cables, don't keep them near Monitor, AC lines, RF cables;
Ground is very useful; connect together cases of all device
(RTX, PC, Power supply.);
Very useful is a transformer-separator; also optoisolator
interface are welcome.
