AFRICA TWIN:
VOLTAGE REGULATOR RECTIFIER
The
Achilles' hell for the desert queen (2/4)
(wait....there
are many pics to load)
So I've added two fan; the first is 6x6cm, 12V - 0,16A as in the picture; the second is 8x8cm 12V - 0,26A and is mounted on the added power dissipator;
Fan are brushless but are not for "hard work" so care must be taken to avoid water infiltration; i've used siicon glue to close any existing hole (where possible, of course).
Fans are driven by a thermo-switch normally open which close at 50 degrees and
is mounted on the second dissipator;
I've used this way because its' directly under battery voltage and so doing I
have a post-ventilation effect with the engine (and key) off;
If you need, you can have it "under key": in that case you can
eliminate the thermo-switch and have the funs always running when the engine is
running.
The thermo-switch close to the ground (the frame), so remember to connect the
frame to the dissipator with a short yellow-green (earth)-cable.
Between the battery and the thermo-swich there is a 1Ampere fuse.
About vibrations, I've only used a rubber sheet between the bracket and the regulator (coming fron an HILTI bracket).
