Territories under the control of the Palestinian National Authority are: Gaza Strip, facing the Mediterranean Sea, and several enclaves situated in the West Bank, North of Jerusalem.
The peace process between Israelis and Palestinian will increase the land under P.N.A. direct control, in order to form a complete Entity, self-administered.
Anyway, because of the constant media focus on this area, the problems and troubles that afflict people living there are well known world-wide.
But few know how this people is searching for peace, and how they show their kindness and hospitality.
We was always honoured as well-accepted guest, at the post & Telecommunications Ministry, at the Adam Hotel, at the borders of Gaza Strip, and by everyone we met, even by the man in the street!
After few months of arrangements for licensing, custom clearances, travel and accommodation, Simon IZ7ATN with his Land Rover took, on the 16^th of August, a ferry-boat linking Piraeus, in Greece, with Haifa in Israel: a two days and half trip, allowing him to visit beautiful islands as Santorini, Patmos, Rodos, Cyprus.
At his landing, Alessio IZ0CKJ and Massimo IW0FQZ were waiting for him, as they came in Israel by plane from Rome, spending some days visiting Jerusalem with his holy sites, and the Dead Sea.
They moved immediately by car to Gaza, ending in the afternoon of 19^th all licensing procedures and antenna installation on the roof of the hotel.
We worked mostly on 15, 20 and 40 meter, but we did good activity on 10,12,17 and 80 meter too, we used a Kenwood TS 440 AT, an Icom IC 706 II, a Tagra 5 bands vertical and a PKW dipole for low bands.
After five days of trasmissions, they moved to Tel Aviv, for a brief holiday, meeting also Dov, 4Z4DX, the day after Alessio and Massimo came back in Italy by plane, Simon took the ferry-boat back to Greece the 26^th.
