Activity and Equipment of IW3HVB and IK3COJ |
Most of our activities are related with MW. We are active on 1296 MHz tropo and EME, 2304 tropo, 5760 tropo, 10368 tropo. We also have a 144 MHz SSB station for sked and talkback.
Our RIG is: 144 MHz: IC202 + preamplifier + Tube PA (4CX250), approximately 150 W at the antenna (YAGI 11 elements Horiz polar.) 1296 MHz Tropo: TXV HM + single preamplifier + Tube PA (2C39), approximately 40 W at the feed (3 mt Dish Horiz polar.) 1296 MHzEME: TXV HM + double preamplifier (NE325 0.3 dB NF) + Tube PA (Gi7b), approximately 250 W at the feed (3 mt Dish Circular pol.) 2304 MHz: TXV HM, approximately 4 W at the feed (3 mt Dish Horiz. pol.) 5760 MHz: TXV HM, approximately 8 W at the feed (3 mt Dish Horiz pol.) 10368 MHz: RTX Zero If S53MV HM + preamplifier + PA (2xMGF2445), approximately 2 W at the feed (1,2 mt Dish Horiz pol.)
In the Technical section You can Download the complete project for the 10368 MHz TRX by S53MV, and the VE4MA project for the 1296 Tube Amplifier using the Svetlana Gi7b Triode.
EME is the most challenging activity for a modern ham, we think. Here you can listen an EME signal received by IK3COJ on 1296 MHz. The signal came from IY4FGM/4 (I Was operating there for that QSO...), on 12 Dec 2001. The Marconi Foundation, with the cooperation of CNR (many Thanks to Goliardo I4BER) have put on Air an EME station using the VLBI 32 mt dish of Medicina (Bologna. You can see it in the Gallery page). We did 27 QSO (Log follows) that day. |
Here's the IY4FGM/4 log about the Marconi Celebrations in 12 Dec 2001:

But Rainscatter can give some fun too.......
During the Alpe Adria Contest I did some very interesting QSO, beyond Line of Sight, using Rainscatter propagation on the 10 GHz band. I was at our usual portable rover site: Mount Pizzoc, and I had some good QSO with Hungary, Czech republic, Slovak, Austria and Slovenija. Following You can see the Log of that contest:

On 25 of June a Wild and impressive Twister came over our House, in JN65BN. Several Trees fallen, damages to roofs and buildings... Damages also to our semi-fixed shack, on the terrace. On the related gallery you can see some of the damgs. Was funny (snort!) to go outside to keep all the stuff down, for avoiding all to fly away. With Wind at 150 Km/h and Icy rain it was challenging to keep in touch!!! Here You can see a local newspaper article on the fact (Exactly in front of my house there is a golf club, hardly damaged by the storm). Only in Italian for the moment....
