Then finaly on May 2th 2000 I departed from Schiphol airport in Amsterdam with Canada3000 to Toronto Lester B. Person International airport in Toronto, Ontario Canada. When I arrived I had to get my bagage and had to find Mike. But I couldnt find mike I walked back and forth trough Terminal 3 where all the International Flights arrive and departure. After a hour walking back and forth and calling to his house and having no answer I decided to sit down and just watched the people who could be Mike. I immagined that mike could be stuck in traffic orso. So after sitting a while, I saw a guy that could be Mike. So I said " Mike ? " and Yep that was Mike hi..
His friend John was so friendly to pick me up. We drove about a hour orso to Dunnvile. When we finaly arrived in his nice appartment we watched some television and rest and went to sleep at about 22:00, airplane flights can be really exhausting.
The next morning we drunk some coffee and went outside to see a something from Dunnville, nice little
town. Then at a store called Canadian Tire I meet his dad, Dave Whiteford VE3ORD. After a while looking
in the store we went back to his appartment and his dad came to pick us up to go to Mike's old house
to move some stuff into his appartment. That night most of his stuff was in his appartment.
A few days later we installed the ICOM IC-756
( nice radio !! )and a vertical antenna for 10mtr that I have send some months ago to him and his dad.
On May 8th his friend Clayton helped us to pick up the camper I wanted to rent, it was a verry big one.A Ford pickup truck V10 with a camperhouse on the back. Then we drove back to Dunnville by following Clayton. It was quite a experience driving such a big vehicle hi!
The next morning we loaded the camper with food and other things like fishingrod's etc.., after loading
the camper we could start our trip to the North of Ontario to a town called Mattawa. After driving about
6 hour we arrived in Mattawa,we drove into a area with allot of trees and great Nature. at a little bridge with high streaming water we decided to camp. It was a verry nice place with sounds of all different animals, especialy birds, woodpeckers, bluebirds etc..
The next day we went fishing near the bridge but we cought nothing, so we tried at an other place
where we also cought nothing. We decided to drove to a better place to fish.Where we did cought
some fish. We eated some fish we cought, it was delicious!
The day that we decided to go back to Dunnville we first wanted to go to a bridge with a big lake where we cought a big pike! We putted the fish in the fridge to eat it later. We ended up never eating it because the fish was to slimy, so we gave the Fish to his neighbour who might have eated it.
Our trip back to Dunnville was a exhausting trip because we came in a major thunderstorm! I am happy
that we stopped and tanked before the major thunderstorm began. 300 Km of heavy major thunderstorm and
heavy rainfull, the rain was so heavy that we had to drive abt 60km/u where you where allowed to drive 100km/u, I had to follow the vehicle in front of me to keep track of the road. Immagine that! hi.. :) BUT we made it back home! :)
Back in Dunnville about 01:00 in the night, we watched some tv and went to sleep. I slept for about
12 hours straight. I was tired from staying concentrated during the thunderstorm.
Then a few days later
of rest his friend Clayton asked us to come to his uncle's cottage and fish. The first day being there
we went for a hike (walk), after a while we stopped somewhereon the rocks near a little lake. But then I heard something rattling... It was a rattlesnake!! We quikly stepped away from it! I was glad the snake warned us first before biting hi.. :))))) That was great but also a bit scary! We fished allot and played darts. Making a barbeque (BBQ) fire. We eated chicken and stoved potatoes with boter and salt and pepper in it.. delicious! After eating it all I heard something in the bushes...... No unfortunaly it wasnt a beer. But much greater a racoon!! He came to eat our chickenbones. The racoon was about 1mtr away from us to get the chickenbones. The next day we eated porkchops with potatoes. We layed an egg on the ground
for the racoon and it came to get it. he bited in it and drunk it. We also heard a owl before we went
to fish.
Then unfortunaly we had to go back the next day. But it was great to be in the cottage
and see some nice cottages at the lake and seeing a rattle snake and a racoon, hearing a owl. If I could
I would live my whole life in such a cottage.
Then after a day of rest watching movies back in Dunnville, it was time for me to bring the camper back
fortunaly the camper was not damaged and was 100% OK. :) That same day we went back to Dunnvile and
sleeped a bit. That day was also the day for me to go back to Holland. So his friend Clayton was so
friendly again to bring me to the airport. Those 18 days where gone fast. But it always goes fast
if ur having fun and doing much. I am sure I will come back to visit Mike!
I want to say manny thanks to Mike for letting me stay in his appartment and gave me a great vacation in Canada! And I also wanted to say manny thanks to his Friend Clayton who helped me with picking up the camper and giving me and mike a ride. And manny thanks also to his friend John for picking me up at the airport! Thank you guys!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Hope to see you again in the future.
